I weep every time I listen to Ticking.

Well, yeah, that would be the ultimate cheese! I can't listen to that one - even when I was a kid the casual racial slurs always bugged the hell out of me - it's just so out of place and unnecessary. I'd probably feel differently about it if it were clear that he says it in the character's voice, but that's not clear at all.

But there are the lesser cheeses like Pinky, cited above, Dixie Lily, Stinker!, and my own personal favorite I've Seen The Saucers. And I don't care what anyone says, The Bitch Is Back is about as good as top-40 got in the mid-70s.

Yeah, but what was up with "Solar Prestige A Gammon?" They re-used a riff from "Cold Highway" in it, but I prefer "Cold Highway" (left off of Caribou til now). Worst Taupin lyric ever?

That is a weird goof, but Worst Taupin Lyric could be a very crowded field! - I nominate Sweet Painted Lady and, notwithstanding the circumstances, the best-selling single in history, Goodbye England's Rose ... I'm pretty sure Elton retired it as much out of embarassment as respect.

And don't forget "We Built This City"!

Aw, I kinda like "Sweet Painted Lady," it gives Elton the chance to be a seaside prostitute for the length of the song (something he probably got a vicarious thrill out of). Well, I knew the Starshit didn't write "We Built This City," but I didn't know it was Taupin. Sheesh. Fenario, you're right, that must be Da Winna, hands down... :\

Yeah, I noticed at the more recent tribute to DIana, although Elton was there, he didn't whip out "English Rose" (or "Candle In The Wind", for that matter.) Thank goodness for that. He did, however, play "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting..." :)
